On 20 June, 2009, a delightful art exhibition was held by artist Brigitte Martin to showcase both past and recent works and offer them for sale to the public. The exhibition was held on the grounds of a lovely estate owned by a longtime Corfu resident, Gerhard Dendorfer. The spacious and stunning garden overlooks both Gouvia Marina and the Village of Kontokali.
As the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the spacious grounds, a crowd of perhaps two hundred gathered to view the paintings (which were hung quite creatively upon the trees throughout the garden) and partake in a reception for the artist.
The event lasted well into the evening, and quite a number of paintings were sold. The general consensus among those attending was that they would certainly like to see much more of Brigitte Martin's work. And they are in luck! An upcoming exhibition of Brigitte's work will take place in September at Corfu's newest gallery, La feuille d'or.
Brigitte Martin was born 1952 in Bonn, Germany where she studied art and the German language. Her early exhibitions in Germany, including "Art For One Night", were quite successful attracting more than a thousand viewers. In 1994, she left Germany
with her husband to come to Corfu. Cuurrently, she is painting in the style of Modern Expressionism. She creates both paintings and collages, and recently she has begun working in photogrtaphy as well. In September she will exhibit her collages in Corfu's newest gallery, La feuille d'or.
