The tourist village of Gouvia, located 8 kilometres north of Corfu Town has been around since the early days of tourism on Corfu, yet it remains an enduring favourite for visitors year after year.
This year the season kicked off earlier than usual with most restaurants and shops opening for the Easter Holiday (known in Greece as Pasxa).
All manner of accommodations are available for visitors during the summer months, from simple studios to self-catering apartments, luxury hotels, budget hotels and villas.
The village also offers a wide variety of restaurants, bars with ample nightlife, gift shops, swimming pools, and of course Gouvia Beach.

Very near the beach, Gouvia's oldest antiquity is located - the old Venetian Shipyard, which was once a dock for Venetian ships (and others) docking in Gouvia Bay.
Nowadays, pleasure craft dock in Gouvia Marina, a world class facility with berths to accommodate more than 800 yachts, large and small.
From the small dock located right on the beach, holidaymakers can board a day cruise boat or higher a power boat, or jet skis. Parasailing and other water sports are also available nearby.

And if the mid-afternoon sun should grow too hot on the beach, the Molfetta Beach Bar offers shade and cool drinks just steps off the strand.

Inside the village itself, one finds the charming village church, as well as street vendors and other curiosities.

Several fish restaurants offer the 'catch of the day' (and they are not exaggerating; many catch the fish they serve), such as the Gorgona (Mermaid) Restaurant and Shark's. There are any number of grills and take-out restaurants, snack bars offering sandwiches and pizza, as well as several bars and nightclubs offering live music and snazzy drinks.

Whatever your taste, Gouvia' restaurants aim to please, delivering high-quality, tastey meals you will not soon forget.
And if you are cooking at your self catering apartment, Gouvia Supermarket has all the provisions you will need. There is also a bakery in the village, as well as a butcher shop. Nearby, the Diellas Supermarket has a green grocer with a vast selection of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Gouvia's independent supermarket is located right in the centre of the village and offers a vast selection of foods, wines and liquors, cigarettes and sundries for your convenience.
