Gijs Roozendaal: When I was six
years old I won many swimming
matches in my category of swim-
mers. My first contact with div-
ing was in a swimming pool in
Germany in 1993. In 1998 I got
the chance to join the PADI openwater course together with my brother and dad. In 2001, I finished the Divemaster course and started working in Holland, Greece, and Portugal during my summer vacations. When I finished school, I left Holland for Egypt, where I became a diving in- structor in 2004.
Theo Roozendaal: Even as a child I
liked the water. After school was
finished I became a sailor and
traveled around the world.
In 1972 I became a salesman and
photographer. With Mieke, I taught
our kids swimming. In 1993, we
started our own business in Alkmaar. In 1998, I started to dive with my sons, and during that year we all dove together in the Red See. From that point onward diving fever took over the whole family, and in 2002 I became a divemaster, and later an instructor for PADI and DAN.
